Lots of fun at the Primary School Hockey Tournaments

03 February 2022  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

Our Year 10 sports leaders recently hosted and ran hockey tournaments for Year 3/4 students and Year 5/6 students. It was a cold, windy day on the Astroturf but lots of fun was had by the 17 teams that entered.

In the morning, Trinity Academy Middleton Tyas were crowned champions with Brompton-on-Swale achieving second place. It was a very close call though, as both of these teams scored the same amount of points throughout the tournament and drew against each other they faced off. The final placings had to be decided by goal difference.

In the afternoon, Bolton-on-Swale were crowned champions with Richmond Methodist’s two teams achieving second and third and Brompton-on-Swale achieving fourth place.

The student sports leaders, Katie, Shannon, Lara, Ella, Hannah, Chloe, Charlie and Alfred, officiated the games confidently and with control. They received many compliments from the visiting schools.
