LONDON EDINBURGH LONDON CYCLE EVENT: VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY
This summer, between August 3rd – 7th, Richmond School will be the location of a control point on the world-renowned LEL: London Edinburgh London cycle event.
Once every four years around 2000 cyclists assemble from all around the world to try to ride 1500km in five days – that’s around 200 miles a day – and this time they’ll be stopping off at Richmond School for food and sleep, both on their way north and then a couple of days later, going south.
So, if you come across some weary-looking cyclists during the holidays at least you’ll know what the riders are undertaking!
The success of the event is down to the people who volunteer to support the riders at the control points. The organisers already have a good team but are always on the lookout for more volunteers. If you’d like to represent Richmond with local knowledge and hospitality between August 3rd – 7th then you can volunteer to help at this link:

This offer is extended to family and friends of staff and students but please be aware that volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied, the minimum age being 13. If you’re over 16 and under 18, parental consent is required.
The control point is open 24 hours a day and you’ll be provided with food and a T-shirt while you’re working.
If you have any queries about volunteering or the event, then Peter Davis is the contact:

He’ll be running the control with his wife and their team of international helpers.
