Liam Clement, an avid Enduro mountain biker and sportsman, will be heading north to Galashiels in the Tweed Valley Scotland, where he has gained a place at the Borders Academy of Sporting Excellence (BASE) to study for a National Progression Award in Sport and NPA in Exercise and Fitness Leadership.  Specialising in mountain bike coaching and competition, the course develops students’ individual skills and performance alongside their academic studies. Past students include the current UCI Downhill MTB world champion Reece Wilson along with a number of professional riders.

After competing in motorcycle trials for several years, Liam switched to mountain biking two years ago and regularly takes part in competitions locally and further afield, including Scotland and Wales. Last weekend, he competed in the challenging Ard Rock, a gruelling national event which takes place in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale across rugged terrain.  Liam was placed 3rd in the 15-17 year old sprint class and 4th overall out of 280 competitors.
