Lest we forget

The Last Post, played by Tom, in Year 11, and Freddie, in Year 8, was transmitted throughout school and college at 11:00 this morning. All students and staff observed the two-minute silence and a number of students proudly wore their Ministry of Defence cadet forces uniforms.

Mr Boyd said: “Freddie and Tom played the Last Post beautifully in very poignant circumstances.  As a performance, it would have been daunting for them to know that all the students and staff across the school and college were listening.  We are most grateful and proud of Freddie and Tom for playing on this very important occasion.”

On Sunday, many of our students will be taking part in Parades and Remembrance Services in Richmondshire and across the Dales representing the Ministry of Defence Cadet Forces, Scouts, the Emergency Services and other organisations.

In school and college, we have commemorated Remembrance in many ways, including our Textiles Club, History Club and Service Children creating and designing stunning memorials which are celebrated our short film of Freddie and Tom playing the last post here.
