ISOBEL CONTINUES HER TETRATHLON AND SHOWJUMPING SUCCESS
It’s been a busy couple of weekends recently for Isobel Cook, Year 9 student at Richmond School. Isobel is a highly experienced competitor in the Tetrathlon, which includes cross country horse riding, cross country running, swimming and target shooting. She also competes at a high level at show jumping, regularly travelling long distances to competitions.
To start with, Isobel was part of the Northern England Tetrathlon squad who travelled down to Moreton Morrell for the Junior Regional Tetrathlon Championships. The weekend started with a shoot practice on Friday evening, followed by the shoot and swim stages on Saturday. There was a chance to relax and socialise with the other competitors at the Tetrathlon Party on Saturday evening, then Sunday saw the ride and run stages.
Isobel and her bay pony Zappa jumped a fantastic clear round of a technical cross country course that caused a lot of problems for many of the riders. Isobel ran, swam and shot brilliantly to help her Northern team finish second behind the Irish team, who had brought over 40 competitors to the event.
Most recently at Bramham International Horse trials Isobel and her grey pony Prince jumped a fantastic clear round (one of only six clears in the class) in the Pony Club Team show jumping competition. This performance helped secure team 2nd for the Bedale West of Yore Pony Club.
Well done to Isobel and her support team – we look forward to hearing further updates in the future!
