Impressive results at North Yorkshire Cross Country Championships

31 January 2022  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in: ,

Congratulations to our students who competed in the recent North Yorkshire Cross Country Championships. Hosted at Risedale School, the day began very cold and frosty and the temperature didn’t really improve throughout the day. Conditions underfoot were firm for the first few races but then became increasingly soft and muddy as the day wore on.

There were some notable results:

In the Year 7 Girls race, Isobel Cook finished 18th; in the Junior Girls race, Maggie Longstaff finished 16th and in the Inter Girls race, Holly McCowie finished 18th. Alana Teasdale finished 10th in the Senior Girls race and consequently has won a place at the Inter Counties Championships to be held at Middlesbrough on February 5th.

In the Year 7 Boys race, Tomas Hoole finished 15thand will be running again at the Inter Counties Championships. In the Senior Boys race, Charlie Stephenson was 2ndand will go straight through to the English Schools Cross Country Championships to be held in Kent on March 19th. Jacob McKinley and George Baker finished 10thand 11th respectively and will join Charlie, Alana and Tomas in Middlesbrough next month.

All of our students who represented Hambleton and Richmondshire at this event will be awarded Area Colours and we congratulate them all on their fantastic achievement.
