Holocaust Memorial Day

23 January 2023  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in: ,

Miss Ridley delivered a thought-provoking assembly to our Year 13 students to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January.  In addition, our Year 12 students will be working with the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Lessons from Auschwitz Project.  You can view the assembly here and find out more about the work of the Holocaust Educational Trust here.

Miss Ridley, History Teacher, said: “It is about trying not to detach ourselves from such events just because they haven’t happened in our lifetime. Genocides aren’t a thing of the past and we have a responsibility to learn from our mistakes and change the way we treat people. I also think it’s important to humanise the Holocaust hence why I have included some case studies in the presentation. We tend not to comprehend the 6 million number and therefore it’s paramount that we learn from those that experienced it.”
