HENRY QUALIFIES FOR SPORTSHALL ATHLETICS UK FINALS

05 March 2025  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: , ,

We recently received news that Henry Robb, Year 7 student at Richmond School, has been doing exceptionally well in Sportshall Athletics recently, competing for his club, Allerton Junior Athletics Club.

Dawn, Henry’s mum, provides a bit more detail:

“Earlier this year Henry took part in trials for the regional Sportshall Athletics competition.

He and his team did brilliantly and were selected to represent North Yorkshire in the Under 13 category.

Last Sunday Henry took part in the competition held at Eston Leisure Centre, Middlebrough. Henry competed in the obstacle relay, 4 x 1 lap relay, 4 x 2 lap relay and the vertical jump.

Henry’s team won all their relays and he came second in the vertical jump.

The U13 boys qualified for the UK finals and recently we found out Henry has been invited to compete for the team in the UK Finals.

We are immensely proud of Henry’s achievements so far and look forward to more track events in the coming months.

Henry has always loved sport. In addition to athletics Henry also plays football for Northallerton Town Juniors (Division 1) and attends Taekwondo. Henry is going for his black belt in April and we know he will give it his all!”

Well done to Henry – we look forward to hearing how he does in the UK Sportshall finals and with his Taekwondo black belt – watch this space!

We know there are a number of other Richmond students who compete in Sportshall athletics for their local clubs. If anyone has any similar stories of recent success and achievement, please just email them to swardle@richmond-alt.uk and we’ll make sure to spread the word!
