We are delighted to share details of this forthcoming concert, at the Influence Church in Richmond,  as Sophie Overin, alumna of Richmond School and Sixth Form College, is a singer in this highly acclaimed group. Sophie’s musical life began at St. Mary’s Church in Richmond. She is a recent graduate of Royal Holloway, University of London, where she received a First-Class degree with distinction in Music and French. She is building up a freelance career, and can be found singing with various choirs such as those at the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. Sepulchre’s, Holborn and St. Bartholomew the Great, amongst others, as well as ensembles such as the Carice Singers and Tenebrae.

The Carice Singers, a British vocal ensemble of young professional singers, is conducted by George Parris. Named after Edward Elgar’s daughter, the ensemble is known for bringing a pure sound and an imaginative approach to a wide spectrum of choral music, with a preference for performing British choral music with deep commitment and insight.

Brought to Richmond by Richmondshire Concerts, the programme, ‘Tis Nature’s Voice’, will include songs by Howells, Bax, Ireland, Janacek, Elgar, Berg, Ross, Edwards Grieg and Finzi.

The group’s recordings of music by English twentieth-century composers, have been praised by reviewers. In the words of Gramophone magazine, “Few can match the Carice Singers for musicality and beauty of tone.”  To listen to a sample of their music visit www.thecaricesingers.co.uk/listen
