The Headteacher’s Values Award was presented to Kieren Hawes, Year 8, who was nominated by Mr Beresford for his excellence, resilience, respect and teamwork during a recent football match. Mr Beresford said: “On Tuesday 12th November, the Year 8 boys at Richmond School played in a football match against a very tough opposition. Kieran showed outstanding character and never once let his head drop when the result of the game was going against us, down 4-0 by half time. That didn't stop Kieran, starting the second half in a positive frame of mind and he played by example. He worked and worked, practically running himself into the ground. By the end of the game Kieran looked like he was going to be physically ill. “The pure determination he showed demonstrated the values of the school. Kieran showed himself to be an example for the rest of his team mates throughout the game, playing at the highest intensity, literally giving his all. At the end of the game, he showed the utmost respect for his opposition, wishing them the best of luck in the next round and then proceeding to help tidy the nets and corner flags away.”
