The Headteacher’s Values Award was presented to Violet in Year 8.
Violet was nominated by Ms Dunwoodie who wrote: “Violet is an absolute asset in our English class and regularly contributes excellent answers. This week, we were discussing, ‘What do gothic monsters tell us about our fears?’ Violet put her hand up and she said that people judge others by appearance which is often wrong. Gothic monsters are rejected by people due to the way they look but has anyone ever thought to get to know them and find out how they are? They could be really nice but people don’t even give them a chance.’
“I was astounded at the emotional intelligence and respect being exhibited by Violet. She stuck to her argument even though others in the room disagreed. Her empathy and intelligent insight are admirable and genuinely took my breath away. With an attitude like this towards others, Violet will go very far and her parents should be very proud to have raised such a sensitive and caring daughter.”
