Headteacher’s Values Award winner

The Headteacher’s Values Award was presented to Archie Thompson, in Year 9.

Archie was nominated by Miss Ridley, who said: “I’d like to nominate Archie for demonstrating the school’s values of Excellence and Creativity. Since Year 7, Archie has progressed massively in terms of his confidence; evidenced by his willingness to put his hand up in tutor and lessons not only to ask for help but to contribute to class discussion. This growth in Archie’s confidence became particularly apparent when, as part of Learning for Life, my tutees were asked to practice their entrepreneurial skills by creating a product that could fit through a letterbox. The students designed them over a series of four lessons and were asked to present them in the fourth so we could have a little competition.

Archie was the only student in the class prepared to stand at the front and market his idea, which he did with passion and humour (he even brought in a prop). He was absolutely brilliant. It was so lovely to watch Archie flourish and really embrace the creativity of the task. Well done Archie!
