Girls from RMS head to the North Yorkshire Primary Football Final

26 November 2021  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in: ,

Following the earlier heats of the girls primary football competition, we were delighted to host the final of the Bedale, Catterick, Richmond and Wensleydale area.  Two teams qualified by finishing in the top two of their local heats and the following teams took part in the area final: Richmond Methodist, Brompton-on-Swale, Michael Syddall, Bedale, Crakehall, Middleham & Spennithorne, BAWB (Bainbridge, Askrigg and West Burton), Le Cateau and Carnagill.

Thank you to our Year 11 students who organised and led the tournament. They did a great job in refereeing the games and ensuring the event ran smoothly.

Teams were placed into two groups where they played every other team in their group. The top two teams from each group then qualified for a semi-final.

The semi-finalists were:

Middleham and Spennithorne V Richmond Methodist School

Crakehall V Brompton

Richmond Methodist School and Crakehall won their semi-finals and faced each other in the final, which was very close, with the score being 1:1. After a penalty shoot-out, the girls from Richmond Methodist School were crowned the winners of the tournament. They are now gearing up for the North Yorkshire county finals which will take place in York in January.
