REPORT 7: U13 VS RYEDALE – QUARTER FINAL COUNTY CUP – 9-1.
The quarter final of the County Cup saw Richmond School take on Ryedale, who had travelled for well over an hour to get to the game.
The game was fast paced and direct from both sides, but it was Richmond who had the better of the ball. Controlling possession through the middle of the pitch, a quick break from Pippa saw her score into the bottom corner. The second goal took a little bit longer as Richmond put on the pressure, but some brilliant work from Charlee down the right-hand side saw her pass fall to Liv, who beat the keeper one on one to make the score 2-0.
Charlee, down the right-hand side, was causing the Ryedale defence all sorts of problems, but no luck until she won another corner. The place kick was swung in by Liv onto Pippa’s head, making the game 3-0. Ryedale managed to get a goal back just before half time, playing the ball down the Richmond left hand side, beating the defensive line and slotting the ball past Pippa G in goal. 3-1 at half time.
Richmond came out into the second half strong, putting immense pressure on the Ryedale defence. Pippa completed her hat-trick with a tidy long-range effort into the bottom corner, with Liv adding a second goal by beating the defence and hitting the same spot, well out of the way of the keeper. 5-1 the score.
Further goals were scored by Connie, who got onto the end of one of Charlee’s crosses, with Phoebe then scoring a birthday goal by winning the ball on the edge of the box and lofting the ball over the Ryedale keeper. Maddie then got her goal by tapping in a nice rebound shot from Liv – Maddie was in the right place at the right time. Finally, Rosie got her first goal for Richmond on her first appearance, getting the ball in the box, and slotting it past the keeper’s right hand side.
The game finished 9-1 and Richmond move on to the County Cup semi-finals.
