EXCELLENT MODEL-MAKING SKILLS DEMONSTRATED AT ANNUAL TECHNOLOGY TOURNAMENT

Sixteen students from Years 9 and 10 were proud to represent Richmond School and Sixth Form College at the annual Technology Tournament for North Yorkshire. Organised by the Rotary Club and hosted at REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) in Catterick Garrison the students worked really hard on their challenges.

The students were competing against over 150 pupils from schools across the local area. In teams of 4, they worked on a design brief to construct working models of motor-powered cable cars for crossing a river.

Richard Wilson, Design and Technology Teacher, said: “This was an incredibly complex challenge involving many engineering principles, so I was very proud of the work that our students completed and tested on the day, and the way that they all faced unforeseen problems with such a positive frame of mind.”
