EVIE ENCOURAGES STUDENTS TO MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY
As we continue to celebrate National Dance Week, Evie Dobson, in Year 13, was our guest speaker in this morning’s Year 9 assembly.
Evie has been involved in dance since she joining Richmond School in Year 8, and she has made a great contribution to the dance department. Evie has taken part in many performances and also participated in exam pieces for older students studying GCSE and A-level Dance. Evie had no previous experience in dance before starting Richmond School and during her time here she has developed into an exceptionally talented dancer and she is now moving on to study a foundation course at Northern School of Contemporary Dance in Leeds. Evie has gained a wide range of experience and training from the dance opportunities offered at Richmond School and has worked incredibly hard to secure this place. This is a massive achievement for Evie and we wish her the best of luck for the future.
Evie encouraged the students to make the most of all the opportunities that are available in the dance department and explained how being involved in groups, such as Evolution, and performances is fantastic for building respect, resilience, teamwork and creativity. Evie knew when she chose to study GCSE dance that she wanted to do this at a higher level, however she recommended that dance is a great option for anyone who would like to have creative opportunities, express themselves and be able to spend time in the dance studio, whilst keeping fit, letting off steam and having fun.
