EVERYBODY DANCE FESTIVAL – A WEEK TO GO!

24 dancers from Richmond School’s extra-curricular dance group ‘Evolution Dance’ have been rehearsing hard for their big event at York Theatre Royal next Friday – the Everybody Dance Festival.
The full day’s programme of events involves a series of rehearsals and workshops run by professional dancers, culminating in an evening performance in front of a packed audience – the event always sells out!
Mrs Fox, Lead Teacher of Dance, provides a bit more information about the festival and the dance piece the performers have been working on:
“The Everybody Dance Festival showcases and celebrates dance in schools and community settings across Yorkshire. It is a chance for young people to shine and share their creativity with a live audience and immerse themselves in all things dance. Created by Dance Space Projects in partnership with Children’s and Young People’s Dance Network North, York Dance Space, Yorkshire Dance and Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
The theme for the whole evening is ‘Home’. I decided to create a piece based on the idea of home being a person, rather than a place. From this we have created a lyrical performance which explores the idea of an unconditional connection or bond with someone.”
We wish all our dancers the very best for what is going to be a fantastic day and are looking forward to hearing how it goes – watch this space!
