EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES

This week we have been celebrating the annual European Day of Languages in school.
This year the theme is languages = treasure and this has been explored in assemblies led by Madame Norman, lead teacher of MFL at Richmond School.
The diverse number of languages spoken by Richmond School students has also been celebrated in lessons by students writing the date in a number of different languages including Norwegian, Ukrainian, Fijian, Polish and Vietnamese. This has sparked interesting discussions amongst both students and staff – it is always fascinating to learn about and celebrate the diversity that we have amongst the students and staff at the school.
If you would like to find out more, the European Day of Languages website has much more information, including interactive games, videos, posters to download and even a languages joke book – here’s an example:
What’s the best thing about Switzerland? I don’t know, but its flag is a big plus.
(There are better ones!)
