Want to get into comedy? The BBC New Comedy Awards is a nationwide talent search to find the best new stand-up, sketch and digital comedians. Since they first launched in 1995 the prestigious awards have helped launch the careers of many of the UK’s best-loved comedians. This year, for the first time in its history, the BBC New Comedy Awards will have two new categories, Young Comic (under 18s) and Digital Comedian, so there’s even more opportunity to get involved.
The deadline for entering the competition is 23:59 on Sunday 22nd August 2021.

What’s the prize?
From the entries submitted to the Over-18s category, shortlisted candidates will be asked to perform at regional heats across the UK through early October. One regional winner from each of the heats will be chosen and asked to perform at the BBC New Comedy Awards Final which will be held in early November.
Under-18s and Digital Comedy entrants may be asked to attend the regional heats and grand final – more information to follow.
The regional heats will be televised on BBC Three and BBC One and the final will be broadcast on BBC One.
Main Prize for Over-18s category: £1,000 and a paid commission to write and perform in a 30-minute audio pilot, mentored by a BBC Comedy Commissioner.
