Elijah thunders to rugby success
Amazing news for Elijah Delaidriti, in Year 10, who has secured a two-year scholarship with professional rugby league club Newcastle Thunder’s under 15s squad. Elijah is in the club’s Academy team and has already started his twice-weekly training with them, with fixtures due to kick off in March. Elijah plays rugby to an exceptional standard and has been making a name for himself on the pitch for several years. In 2019, he was awarded the North East Rugby League U12 Player of the Year.
Elijah has recently returned to Richmond School after ten months in Cyprus following his Dad’s army posting, and it is fantastic to welcome him back and to see him picking up his rugby at such a high standard.
Jack Moore, PE Teacher, said: “All the PE staff are over the moon to hear of Elijah’s success with Newcastle Thunder. This is a tremendous achievement for Elijah who is such a promising player and I think this is set to be the start of a great career in rugby for him.”
