ECO CLUB TO NURTURE AN EDIBLE GARDEN

Following their involvement at the Richmondshire Climate Action project in July, our Eco Club are developing their interest in gardening and self-sufficiency and were delighted to receive a selection of plants that were kindly donated to them by the Newton-Le-Willows Climate Action Group who were on the next stand to them at the event at Tennants. The students are going to make use of some raised beds near the sundial at school and create an ‘edible garden’. There is an assortment of coriander, wild basil, thyme, carraway, cayenne pepper and even a cantaloupe plant! There are already some strawberry plants growing, so the students have given them some TLC and a bit more space to grow too. It will be the Eco Club’s responsibility to look after them and add to the collection.
If any students would like to join the Eco Club and find out more about the fantastic initiatives they are working on, then they are very welcome to come along to meetings in CS04 on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30pm.
