ECO CLUB PLANT SEED BOMBS DONATED BY BBC’S GREEN PLANET TV SERIES
Green-fingered Eco Club students have been busy planting some seed bombs donated by the BBC as part of the ‘Green Planet’ TV series initiative. They had over 30 ‘Green Planets’ to plant containing an array of wildflower seeds that specifically attract pollinators.
Overall, the initiative saw over 1 million ‘Green Planets’ planted in and around schools across the UK and they should begin to flower next spring right through to the summer!
In addition, the students were delighted to receive some plants and bulbs which Holly Brydon brought for them to add to their planter. Holly, former student, was the brainchild behind the college’s Eco Garden.
Miss Spittlehouse said: “Our plan is to continue planting pollinator-friendly plants around the school and college with the hope of increasing the biodiversity on the site. We are aiming to add bee and bug hotels as well as safe resting spots for butterflies and birds.”
