Connie, in Year 10, and Aimee, in Year 9, are celebrating success on the rugby pitch after their team, Darlington Mowden Park Under 15 girls, excelled at the recent Durham Girls Rugby Festival, taking top honours.
Rachael Longstaff, Team Manager, said: “The team played together along with other clubs within a pool which they won, showcasing the core rugby values of TREDS (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship). They then entered the final against a strong Houghton-le-Spring. Mowden worked together to push back against Houghton scoring several tries and kicking conversions over the posts. The team played together using the skills they have developed, strong communication, leadership and teamwork. Playing for not only enjoyment but to win.”
The final score was a tremendous 22:10 to Mowden Park.
The Under 15s team train each week on a Thursday evening at Darlington Arena and play matches on a Sunday against clubs within the North East area. If you would like to join, please contact Rachael Longstaff on 07779570418
As well as the Under 15 girls’ team, Mowden Park also has Under 13 and Under 18 girls’ teams. They also train on a Thursday evening.
