Well done to Eve Sunter, Zack Ridley and Joel Nesbit, in Year 12, who successfully completed the challenges set up by the Royal Society of Chemistry in the undergraduate laboratories at Teesside University. They took part in the North East heat of the Schools’ Chemistry Analyst competition, completing a variety of analytical tasks on determining the amount of iron and phosphate in Martian soil and identifying any amino acids that may be present. They used various techniques including titrations, colourimetry and thin layer chromatography. This was an exciting experience for the students who were competing against 10 other schools and colleges. Our congratulations go to Eve, Zack and Joel for doing so well and achieving 4th place in the competition.
