CHALLENGING RICHMOND SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY COURSE TESTS LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS

Richmond School hosted a Key Stage 2 cross country competition recently.
The competition saw 34 local primary schools attend the event which translated to approximately 1000 pupils running around our challenging cross country course.
The event was supported by Sports Leaders from Richmond School and Sixth Form College who had to independently manage groups of up to 300 pupils in the warm up area, take charge of excited runners on the starting line to begin the race safely and manage the finish line to ensure all pupils’ finishing positions were recorded correctly. They also did a fantastic job of celebrating as pupils crossed the finish line, as well as marshalling and acting as ‘hares’ in front of each race so athletes knew where to run.
The event was a huge success, largely because of the effective and orderly way it was managed by our brilliant Sports Leaders. Thanks to our PE staff for overseeing the event and especially to Mrs Carruthers for organising the competition.
Thanks also, of course, to all primary schools’ pupils and staff who attended!
