Family, friends and staff were treated to a 90-minute spectacle as Richmond School and Sixth Form College students demonstrated their talents. Guests passed through an exhibition hall of student artwork as the entrance lobby was transformed into a contemporary gallery. The school’s 100-strong dance troupe Metamorphosis kicked off the proceedings with Arrival of the Birds, heralding a feast of choreography by boys and girls of all ages. Act 2 saw drama students take to the stage for a piece they had created based on Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Year 13 theatre studies students explored the intricacies of the London Underground performing a physically demanding and visually intriguing repertoire inspired by a map of the Tube. Lead teacher of dance Victoria Hargest said: “The arts review showcased beautifully the extent and depth of talent that has been nurtured at Richmond School and Sixth Form College.” Head of art Ann Marie James added: “This is the first time we have organised such a collaboration of dance, drama and art and it proved to be the perfect celebration of our students’ outstanding talent.” Abbi Saunders, 17, of Richmond, said: “We have all really enjoyed staging the event which has given us an opportunity to show family and friends exactly what we have learned.”
