Celebrating VE Day at school – enjoy the video
The students had a packed day of activities and fun on VE Day, please enjoy our video of their celebrations here .
Kicking off with the Joe Wicks workout, answering all the Disney questions, the students set to work on researching VE Day, ready for their presentations in the afternoon. They joined the rest of the country to observe the two-minute silence at 11am and were privileged to listen to Mr Boyd, Lead Music Teacher, playing the Last Post. It was then time to make bunting and tuck into a tasty VE Day picnic lunch in the glorious sunshine. The students enjoyed listening to the fabulous live singing of former student Sophie Montgomery, who really got everyone ‘in the mood’ for celebrating! Dr Scott shared the Queen’s Colour Squadron VE Day parade, featuring her son Fionn. The students’ presentations were excellent and star performers and well-done cards were awarded. Thank you to Sophie and Mr Boyd for their wonderful performances.
Please browse through the gallery of photographs of the students in school and also the images of Sophie Montgomery singing live on the green at Aldbrough St John on VE Day. If you missed Sophie’s songs, then you can still catch them at Charlotte Jacqueline School of Dance Our special thanks to Sophie Overin, alumna, who kindly created the tremendous film as a lasting memento of this special day.
Thank you to Stephen Hullock Photography for kindly sharing his stunning images of Sophie Montgomery and capturing the atmosphere of her performance. https://www.instagram.com/stephenhullockphotography/ and http://squadronevolante.co.uk/
