CALLING YEAR 7 TO 10 STUDENTS TO TAKE PART IN THE MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES CHALLENGE

15 June 2023  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

This half term’s challenge will require you to look at some amazing destinations across the world where English is not the first language. Your task is to do some research on a French, Spanish, or German speaking destination of your choice. You are to design a poster, leaflet, or presentation ‘selling’ your destination to potential tourists. Be sure to include the following few information:

–    Where is your destination?

–    How many people live there?

–   What is the climate like?

–   What are its main attractions?

–   Why should somebody visit?

–   Some ‘essential’ words and phrases you will need to get by

We suggest you present your submission on google slides, however this is not compulsory.  It is expected that you present in English but you may wish to include some words and phrases in the target language. Remember to include several pictures. You may even include links to video clips. Remember, the more original and creative your work, the better chance you have of winning!

The Areté Modern Foreign Languages challenge is open to students in all three of our Areté Schools, Richmond, Northallerton and Stokesley. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The entries will be judged taking into account your year group.

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY TO: cnorman@arete.uk including your name and year group
