Calling all green-fingered friends for the Big Garden Project! We need your help – 7th May is the first date!

There’s an exciting ‘Big Garden Project’ in the making and we need your help! Holly Brydon, in Year 13, came up with the fantastic idea of creating some communal garden areas for sixth form students and staff to enjoy, and after months in the planning it’s time to make this a reality! There are three areas in the college which will be split into distinct zones and transformed to: an eco garden, a social space and a peace garden.
This is going to be a massive undertaking, but many hands make light work, so please pick up your rakes and spades and clear your diaries for preparing the areas ready for planting! The dates/times for the ‘big dig’ are from 9am-1pm on: Saturday 7th May, Saturday 21st May, Tuesday 31st May and Thursday 2nd June.
Anyone can help and of all gardening abilities, so students, parents, family members, former students, school staff or members of the community will be most welcome. Please bring your own gardening tools and refreshments.
Holly said: “We would really appreciate any time that you can give, whether it be half an hour, an hour or four! There’s a lot of work to do, such as weeding, removing dead plants, re-edging the lawn areas and clearing any rubble away before we can start planting new flowers and creating the garden spaces but the potential and benefits for the space will be huge.”
