Caitlin saddles up to the top of the leaderboard
A student with a love of horses and western riding is excelling in the Western Equestrian Society’s national youth online show. Caitlin Holcroft, in Year 7, has competed in two out of four rounds and is currently tying at the top of the leaderboard. There are two classes per show, in a series of four shows over the summer. So far, Caitlin has competed in Showmanship (in hand class), Horsemanship (ridden) and Trail (ridden obstacle course). Patterns to be ridden for each class are sent out in advance so they can practise. She is then videoed completing the pattern under show rules and the videos are emailed to the judge.
In her first show, Caitlin came 1st in Showmanship and 5th in Horsemanship and in her second show, she was placed 1st in Horsemanship and 2nd in Trail (ridden obstacles). There is a high points’ trophy for the series and Caitlin hopes to maintain her pole position when she competes in the third show.
We look forward to hearing how Caitlin gets on in the remaining two shows and to sharing a full feature with you about her passion for western riding.
