Area cup joy for Year 10 footballers

08 May 2019  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

Our Year 10 footballer team are celebrating after a 5:1 victory secured the area cup.  After conceding an early goal, to make it 0-1 to Stokesley in the under 15 area cup final, Richmond responded almost immediately after a fantastic ball was whipped into the box by Sam Connolly which James Connelly headed home. James Connelly then got his second goal of the game to give Richmond the lead, and when Matty Callendar spotted the Stokesley keeper off his line he made it 3-1, just before half time, with a great finish. Substitutes Archie Dolan and Max Hancock both got on the scoresheet in the second half meaning the game finished 5-1 to the hosts and gave the side their 4th area cup in 4 years at the school. Robert Fotheringham, team coach, comments: “It has been an absolute pleasure coaching the under 15 side this season. Their attitude and desire to improve as a team has been exemplary all year and I wish the boys every success in the future.”  Please spare a few moments to browse the gallery of images from this fabulous match.
