An all-round team to watch out for in the future!

The Year 7 rounders’ team recently competed in their first tournament at Thirsk School. It was their first experience of competitive rounders. They got stuck straight into the games and demonstrated some excellent fielding skills. In their first game, against Bedale, they got the first 4 of their 5 batters out. There was some clever decision making when batting was demonstrated and they scored a comfortable 3 rounders in their first game. As the tournament went on, there were lots of changes and the girls responded well to position swaps and delivered some outstanding teamwork to get the opposition players out. Special mention to Chloe Knights on first base and Lottie Lister at second. All the games were captained and the main communication came through Katie Carruthers who stepped up as bowler and did a fabulous job in leading the team. Woman of the tournament has to go to Lara Jackson for her calm and collective decision making and accuracy in the back stop position. The girls won two games and lost two, finishing third out of five teams. This is a team to watch out for in the future! Well done ladies.
