Amelia’s mammoth bake-off supports the Poppy Appeal

Well done to Amelia Woodward, Year 11, who baked a fantastic array of tasty treats for a bake sale in support of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Amelia spent many hours baking, cooking and decorating. Eighty-five cakes later, and a house covered in icing sugar, they were ready for staff and students to savour! Amelia’s Dad helped out too and made forty delicious biscuits. Annie Falvey, Amelia’s friend, kindly helped at the bake sale, which was a sell-out success. Amelia’s initiative and determination baking into the night paid off. She is delighted to have raised £75.87 from her mammoth bake-off. Amelia said: “Members of my family were involved in both the First and Second World Wars and I wanted to do something to support the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. It took many hours to prepare and decorate all the cakes after school over the two evenings, but I really enjoyed it.” Image shows Amelia on the right, Annie on the left
