AMAZING SUPPORT FOR CANCER RESEARCH UK’S RACE FOR LIFE

Almost 100 staff and students took part in the Race for Life showing amazing support for Cancer Research UK. It was a fantastic morning and in spite of the heat, the team were undeterred and ran, jogged and walked their way around the 5K course at South Park in Darlington.
Special mention to Ella and Alisha, in Year 11, who completed the course 3-legged! Despite the heat, Henry, in Year 10, and Maciej, in Year 12, completed the event in under 20 minutes and came in 1st and 2nd places respectively
The team sponsorship total is currently sitting at just over £6,500 with gift aid contributions taking this up to just under £8,000. This is an absolutely incredible amount of money and we couldn’t be more grateful for everyone’s fundraising efforts.
You may spot some of our students and staff in the short video that the Northern Echo took during the race here.
Helen Southgate, team leader and organiser, said: “I just want to say a huge thank you to absolutely everyone who got involved and supported this. The Race for Life is always a fantastic (albeit emotional) event and this year was no exception. Every single member of Team Richmond School and Sixth Form College should feel very proud of themselves, the money they have raised will make such a difference.
“I would also like to thank our Trustees who, again, very generously funded the coaches to transport us to and from the event. As always, we are so very grateful for their support.
There is still time to sponsor Team Richmond School and Sixth Form College here, if you wish.
