ALICE IN WONDERLAND: MEET THE KNAVE OF HEARTS

We are delighted to introduce Maisie, in Year 12, who is the Knave of Hearts
What do you particularly like about your character?
How confident she is, even though she is evil, I just like how she is so sure in herself.
Have you performed in any shows before, if so, please tell us a little about your experiences?
I have taken part in many performances throughout my time in school, including ‘When they Go Low’ and ‘The Edelweiss Pirates’. I have also been a part of the Georgian Theatre for six years where I have performances in numerous shows, such as ‘Ash’, ‘The Drummer Boy’, ‘Mobile Phone Show’ and, most recently, ‘The Musicians’. The first musical I ever took part in was during my first year of secondary school where I was in the ensemble of ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat’ which really took me out of my comfort zone. This pushed me to audition for the 2020 musical, when I was in year 9, when we were due to perform West Side Story and I got the roll of Riff! I was so impressed with myself and so excited. Unfortunately, we never got to perform it as Covid hit but once I learned we were doing a pantomime I knew I had to audition.
What are you enjoying most about being part of Alice?
Laughing with my friends and other cast mates when we are watching certain lines and I love singing and dancing with them. I also love how it is pushing me to sing solo in front of many people as well.
What is your favourite moment of the show so far?
When the Knave and the Duchess first interact and how they are both disgusted with one another but still flirt to get what they want.
Why should you buy a ticket to come and watch Alice and Wonderland?
It’s the first whole school show since before Covid and we have a very talented cast and everyone hasl worked hard to get this performance to the standard that it is at now. It is a funny and enjoyable performance to watch as well.
The show runs from 30th November to 2nd December. Tickets are priced £9 for adults, £7 for children (age 16 and under) or £30 for a family ticket (2x adults and 2xchildren). They are available here.
