AARON COMPLETES FUNDRAISING INFLATABLES RUN FOR ‘TEAM ALF’

We recently published an article about Aaron Hutchinson’s participation in a fundraising 5k Inflatable Run at Harewood House, Leeds.

We caught up with him this week to hear about the event.

Aaron and his family travelled down to Harewood House in the rain for the 12:00 start time. He said that the whole family was there – mum and dad, nana and grandad, brothers, aunties, uncles, plus loads of family friends. There was also a large contingent from Crakehall Primary School, led by Mrs Marino, Headteacher. Aaron said that Mrs Marino had been amazing with the support she had given and continues to give the family, the school and the community throughout the last few months.

Before the start everyone picked up their bright orange ‘Team Alf’ t-shirts – specially personalised because there were so many people running for the same cause.

Team Alf were not put off by the rain – in fact Aaron said it made the inflatables more fun – as they started on two laps of the course. Some runners took it steadily but Aaron and some of the other athletes were in it to win it! Most people managed two laps, but Aaron and a very few others kept going and managed four laps – 10km!

Aaron said that the best part of the day was just being with this amazing group of people. After the run everyone celebrated, reminisced and had a great time playing on the inflatables. After that it was home time – another high point was the celebratory Chinese meal at the Hutchinson house – “I was happy” said Aaron!

Oscar’s charity had originally set a fundraising target of £10,000, but Team Alf managed over double that, with the current total standing at £25,572! Aaron’s family also raised nearly double their target, with Aaron being particularly proud of his nana and grandad’s total of over £1500.

It has been a great pleasure talking to Aaron both before and after the run. He has been positive, enthusiastic and genuinely involved all the way through, talking about his friends and family with great pride. Alfie Jack would have been very proud of his big brother.
