Richmond Royals, our brand-new cheerleading team, did exceptionally well at their first-ever cheerleading competition in Durham. The girls have worked tirelessly since July 2022 to get their routine to competition standard and had no prior cheerleading experience before gaining a place on the squad. The Royals were up against well-established cheerleading teams from the North East and Cumbria and managed to come away with:
15 YEARS & UNDER SQUAD ROUTINE: 2nd
14 YEARS & UNDER DANCE 3 SOLO: 3rd – Jemimah (Year 9) and 5th – Francesca (Year 10)
12+13 YEARS & UNDER FUSION SOLO: 6th – Lili (Year 9)
Jamie Pemberton, Dance Teacher, said: “Thank you to the parents who came along to support the students and for being a part of the crazy cheerleading world. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the Trustees at Richmond School and Sixth Form College for funding our personalised uniforms and poms! I am so proud of the students and I can’t wait to see what they can bring to Cheerleading Nationals in June 2023.”
