Headteacher’s Values Award winners: Andi Jones and James Norman

The Headteacher’s Values Award was presented to Andie Jones and James Norman, Year 13 students. This was a joint nomination by Miss Abbey and Mrs Carruthers for their excellent leadership skills during the sports hall athletics events for Year 7 and primary school pupils.

Foodbank boosted by young volunteer’s work

A Foodbank, that helps those in financial crisis feed themselves and their families, has been given a boost thanks to the work of a young volunteer.  Evie, a Year 9 student at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, has been a dedicated volunteer at the Hambleton Foodshare for two years, where she serves customers at the weekly ‘Soup and Roll’ fundraising events during the school holidays.  In the run-up to Christmas, which can be a very difficult, stressful and expensive time for families who are struggling to make ends meet, Evie wanted to do something extra and put together her own appeal at school.

Students treated to an early Christmas present

Year 11 students were treated to an early Christmas present on 3rd December when Quantum Theatre brought their production of 'A Christmas Carol' to school.

A small but energetic and inventive cast of three put on a spirited performance of the much-loved classic. With quick costume changes and clever use of props, the actors were able to bring to life the story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his yuletide transformation.

Students excel at judo and invited to train with national team

Katie Carruthers and Jocelyn Wilson have been called up to train with the national squad of the British Judo Council following their success at the recent British Championships.Katie was crowned national champion in the junior girl under 48kg competition, while Jocelyn fought in a huge group of 18 girls and came out with a bronze.
