NORTH YORKSHIRE SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, SKIPTON – RICHMOND STUDENTS EXCEL!
The rescheduled North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships took place at Aireville Park, Skipton, recently. A number of Richmond School and Sixth Form College students represented the Hambleton and Richmondshire region at the event, but we have most detail from Angela, mum of Tomas Hoole, Year 10 student, who ran in the Inter Boys race:
“Another chilly day! This time at Aireville Park near Skipton for the 4.4km hilly North Yorkshire Schools Cross Country. Tom came 5th, running for Hambleton & Richmondshire in the Inter Boys race, meaning he qualified for a place in the English Schools Championships (top 6 runners) on March 15th in Sussex running for North Yorkshire. All the hard work and training with coach Bernadette Caygill and the Darlington Harriers is showing!”
Isaac Lamb, Year 11 student, features in two of the photos. He came 9th in a very competitive field of 36 athletes, qualifying for a further competition in Middlesbrough in a few weeks’ time.
Aiden Johnson and Wilf Lamb, both Year 9 students, came 3rd and 6th respectively in the Junior Boys race, also qualifying for the English Schools in March.
We have spotted a number of other Richmond students while reading through the results. If any of these athletes would like a mention in this article when it appears in the February Newsletter, please email swardle@richmond-alt.uk
