Cyclone Thane hits Tamil Nadu
On December 30th 2012, Pondicherry and the surrounding areas were hit by rain and winds of up to 145km per hour. Cyclone Thane has caused a great deal of damage to the area surrounding the Amala children's home, leaving many of the local residents without any shelter or accomodation. This has affected a great number of the students that attend the Amala School, meaning that the provision and care has had to be increased.
