- Multimedia with Flash

- An introduction to programming

- Computer graphics

- Database use and design

- Desktop publishing

- Web publishing

KS4

We currently offer a GCSE in ICT which covers a wide range of topics, split between practical and theoretical. Students will design and create systems for other to use focused on handling information and modelling real situations. In addition, we focus on other practical skills not needed for the coursework, including web publishing and multimedia. The theoretical part of the course is designed to give students a solid overview of how ICT is used by business and in society.

Please note – the course we currently offer is coming to an end this year. We are planning on offering two courses to choose from, one a GCSE and the other a vocational course. There has been some delay from the exam boards in getting all the courses certified, therefore we have not made our final decision. More details will be made available when we do make our choice. If you have questions please contact Mr. Remillard in the ICT department.

KS5

GCE in Applied ICT.

This course provides a thorough introduction into the huge range of ICT aspects that drive global business and are used in all walks of life.

The course comprises three units at AS and a further three at A2. During the two years, the units of study will cover the following areas:

- Researching and using data from the web

- Analysing how business organisations use ICT

- Techniques and technology used by business to communicate information

- Multimedia interactive product design

- Developing and creating web sites

- ICT and project management

Assessment at AS is by 1 written examination, and 2 major pieces of coursework. At A2, there are three major pieces of coursework. Students have considerable freedom in choosing their own projects to suit their needs. Each unit will be divided between the teaching of new skills and concepts, and opportunities to implement these skills in a project.

It is a very practical course that would suit a student looking to improve and expand their ICT skills. The course focuses more on creative uses of ICT rather than highly technical skills, although student will learn aspects of programming with respect to web pages and multimedia products.
