KS5
Politics is an established and successful course at Richmond School. Students leave having developed an extensive knowledge and understanding of how both the UK political system and international political systems work.
Politics is an excellent qualification, taken seriously by both universities and employers. It provides evidence that you are interested in the world around you, and capable of communicating your ideas in a variety of ways. Lessons involve research, group and individual work, and lots of discussion and debating. You will also develop the valuable skill of expressing your ideas in concise and analytical written form.
Politics is an option for everyone – you do not need any previous knowledge of politics. Prospective candidates should note, however, that the subject requires a good level of English as good essay writing is a priority.
Each year is assessed by two exams, there is no coursework.
