Welcome by the Headteacher
Richmond School was first established as a grammar school in Richmond, North Yorkshire in the 14th Century. The school has undergone numerous transformations in past times - click here for a summary of the school history.
Over 600 years later we have a flourishing high performing rural community school meeting the needs of students of all abilities across the 11-18 age range. There are approximately 1578 students on roll with over 300 post 16 learners and 200 employees. The school has Specialist status in Creative Arts, Science and Mathematics and is recognised by the Government's Department for Children, Schools and Families as having High Performing School status. In January 2010 the newly established Sixth Form Centre was opened as part of the £32 million pound rebuild and refurbishment programme of the whole school that will be completed in 2012.
Community facilities at the school include the Richmondshire Leisure Trust offering sports facilities that include a full size artificial pitch and a state of the art sports hall and multi-gym opened in September 2009. There is a thriving Community Education Programme along with an excellent Youth Service provision.
