Free School Meals
How do I apply for free school meals?
Free school meals are available to children whose parents are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-Based Job Seeker's Allowance
- Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Child Tax Credit with an income of £16,190 and not in receipt of Working Tax Credit
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guarantee Element of State Pension Credit
Where parents are entitled to working tax credit during a four week "run on" period immediately after their employment has ceased, or after they have started to work less than 16 hours per week, their children are entitled to free school meals.
Children who receive income support or income based jobseeker's allowance in their own right are also entitled to free school meals.
The application form can be accessed by the following link.

Please complete the form and return it to CYPS -Welfare Team, Jesmond House, 31-33 Victoria Avenue, Harrogate HG1 5QE or contact the school and we will send you a copy.
If you need help or advice in applying, please contact the "Free School Meals" section at North Yorkshire County Council on telephone 01609 533405.
As part of the planning for our redesigned school, we have introduced "cashless catering". This is a system whereby all students obtain their meals via a card that has previously been credited with money at one of the cash dispensers around school or, in the case of those in receipt of "free school meals", by School Office.
We feel that this supports those on "free school meals" in a much more equitable way.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the way in which we deal with "Free School Meals" within school, please don't hesitate to contact Audrey Pledge at the school.
