ITV’s landmark documentary will remember Grace’s heroic relative

Grace Morris, a Year 10 student, will see herself talking about her history project, which uncovered a heroic relative who was awarded the Victoria Cross in 1915, on a landmark ITV documentary at 9:30pm on Remembrance Sunday, 11th November.  When researching her history homework, fourteen-year-old Grace from Hunton, discovered that her great, great, great uncle Edward Dwyer won the Victoria Cross after single-handedly fighting off German infantry, at the infamous Hill 60 in the battle of Ypres, by hurling countless hand-grenades to protect his trench.

Ellie’s cake sale and football match raises £450 for charity Ellie Lonsdale, a Year 12 student has raised £450 from a cake sale and charity football match that she organised herself.  Ellie invited her friends at College to join her, some of them baked delicious cakes and biscuits whilst others made up the two 11-strong football teams.  Through sponsorship, bucket collections and sales from the cakes Ellie is delighted that she will be able to donate the £450 to her chosen charities.

Running for Richmondshire – 800 primary students get on track

We were delighted, once again, to host Richmondshire’s eagerly-awaited annual inter-school cross country competition for primary school pupils across the region.  Eight hundred young runners, from Years 3 to 6, were split into 16 races, with boys and girls running in two heats in their respective year groups. Although highly competitive, the runners enjoyed an outstanding, fun-packed day, with many amazing performances by the young athletes who demonstrated a great team spirit and incredible energy.

A glimpse of life in Sixth Form

Richmond Sixth Form College, hosted over 500 Year 11 students and their parents to showcase the facilities, excellent support and guidance, as well as the exceptional line-up of enrichment and extra-curricular programmes on offer. Teaching staff and 67 student ambassadors chatted to visitors, answered questions and highlighted the many reasons to choose Richmond Sixth Form to gain outstanding academic success in post-16 studies.
