Charlie races to first place

We are delighted to share news about Charlie Todd who left Richmond School in 2017.  In 2016, Charlie did work experience at a racing yard, he always had a passion for horses with an ambition of becoming a jockey. Fast forward to 2019 and Charlie is now a professional jockey and has recently been on Sky Sports after winning a race at Fakenham.

We are so pleased that the work experience we were able to arrange for Charlie lead to him following his dream, reaping great results which is testament to Charlie’s dedication and inherent passion for his chosen field.  The value of work experience should never be underestimated and we regularly have students who return to work for the company they had their placement with in either Year 10 or 12.

Charlie’s recent win was his first ride for trainer Ryan Potter, in the Novices’ Hunter Chase. Charlie made a miraculous recovery when his horse blundered at the first jump Charlie managed to haul himself back into the saddle and had sufficient time to catch up, winning by six lengths.  This was the fifth victory for 18-year-old Charlie.
