Ellie’s cake sale and football match raises £450 for charity

Ellie Lonsdale, a Year 12 student, has raised £450 from a cake sale and charity football match that she organised herself.  Ellie invited her friends at College to join her, some of them baked delicious cakes and biscuits whilst others made up the two 11-strong football teams.  Through sponsorship, bucket collections and sales from the cakes Ellie is delighted that she will be able to donate the £450 to her chosen charities.  She was inspired to choose Cancer Research and Dementia UK as the beneficiaries as her Grandmother is currently suffering with cancer and one of Ellie’s good friend’s Grandmother died with a dementia-related illness. Ellie said: “Our College is well known for its high standard of football, so I thought it would be a really good idea to have a football theme as it’s something my friends enjoy doing whilst raising money for great causes. I am really impressed with the effort and time my friends put in.”
